Rules & Regulations

Inland Empire Show Series (IESS) Management reserves the right to limit or revoke participation at any time to anyone.

Anyone wishing to ride on the premises on the day of the show must have a completed Release of Liability form on file with the show secretary prior to mounting.

Exhibitors are to compete at their own risk. IEHJA, IESS, the McCoy's Equestrian Center and the City of Chino Hills are not responsible for loss of property or personal injury.

ASTM-SEI approved hard hats with harness and boots are required for anyone on horseback while on show grounds.

Proper show attire is required. Black half-chaps are permitted with paddock boots.

IEHJA rules prevail unless otherwise stated by the IESS Management.

Only riders on horse back and trainers allowed in warm-up areas.

Riders and/or horses deemed unsafe by IESS Management or Judges will be asked to dismount and leave the ring immediately.

IESS Management reserves the right to cancel or combine classes at their discretion.

Ticketed Warm-Ups must be ridden according to the posted course. Only 1 round permitted per ticket.

A minimum of two exhibitors must enter for a class to run. A minimum of three exhibitors must enter a class for Year End High Point Champion points to count.

Classes may be moved into either ring at IESS Management's discretion.

Multiple names for the same horse will not be permitted. Entry number follows the horse.

Lunging and warm-ups in designated areas only.

Refunds will be given only if IESS Management cancels the class.

There will be a penalty of $25.00 for all returned checks.

No stallions. No braiding please. No dogs.

IEHJA Medal Class: Exhibitors and trainers must be members of the IEHJA before entering any IEHJA medal class.


Class Division Rules & Regulations

HUNTER DIVISIONS

Schooling is only allowed in classes in which riders are eligible to compete.

Cross-Rail Division*
Open to Jr./Amateur riders. Riders in Cross-Rails may not cross-enter into any other Over Fences classes, however may enter into any Flat classes. Riders in Cross-Rails may enter into any of the Cross-Rail Jumpers classes. Points in this division are based on Horse Rider combination.

Walk-Trot Division*
Open to Jr./Amateur riders. Riders may not enter into any other division. Once a rider competes in another division, he/she may not return to the Walk-Trot Division. Points in this division are based on Horse Rider combination.

Lead Line
Open to riders 6 & under. The handler leading the horse or pony must be 18 years of age or older. Horses and ponies must be lead by a lead rope or lead shank.

Green Rider Division*
Open to Jr./Amateur riders. Riders not to have competed over fences higher than 2'3" in height.. Points in this division are based on Horse Rider combination.

Short Stirrup Division*
Open to riders 12 and under. Riders not to have competed over fences higher than 2'3" in height.. Points in this division are based on Horse Rider combination.

Long Stirrup Division*
Open to riders 13 to 17 years of age. Riders not to have competed over fences higher than 2'3" in height. Points in this division are based on Horse Rider combination.

Rusty Stirrup Division*
Open to Amateur riders 18 and over. Riders not to have competed over fences higher than 2'3" in height. Points in this division are based on Horse Rider combination.

Low Jr./Amateur Rider Division*
Open to riders and/or horses of any Hunter level. Points in this division are based on Horse Rider combination.

Schooling Hunter Division
Open to all riders and/or horses of any Hunter level. There are no year end awards for this division.

Baby Green Hunter Division*
Horses in their 1st or 2nd year of showing in a Hunter Division. Fence height is 2'0". Points to follow horse.

Green Hunter Division*
Horses in their 1st or 2nd year of showing in a Hunter Division. Points to follow horse.

Low Hunter Division* and Modified Hunter Division*
Open to riders and/or horses of any Hunter level. Points to follow horse.

Jr./Amateur Rider Division*
Open to riders and/or horses of any Hunter level. Points in this division are based on Horse Rider combination.

 

JUMPER DIVISIONS

All Jumper classes are to be judged according to USEF Rules.

Table II, Sections 2a, 2b, and 2c:
a) Jump the qualifying course, leave the arena and come back at the end for the jump off.
b) Jump the qualifying course, stay in if clean and jump the jump off.
c) Jump the qualifying course and if clean continue on course to do the jump off. Also called Power and Speed.

Table IV, Section 2a: Jump the qualifying course, stay in if clean for the jump off. The jump off is measured based on the optimum time posted fro that course, with the horse/rider team coming closest to the optimum time winning. Horse/rider must be able to measure and rate pace. Optimum time (measured by meters per minute (MPM)) becomes shorter as fence height increases.

Jr./Amateur Cross-Rail Jumpers*
Open to Jr./Amateur riders. Riders may enter into any Cross Rail Division class or any Flat class, but may not enter into any other Over Fences class. Points to follow horse.

Beginning Jumpers*
Open to riders and/or horses in their 1st or 2nd year of showing in jumper classes at any show. Points to follow horse.

Hopeful Jumpers*
Open to riders and/or horses that have not shown in any jumper class higher than 2'9" in height at any horse show. Points to follow horse.

Modified Jumpers*
Open to all riders and/or horses. Points to follow horse.

 

EQUITATION CLASSES

Open to Jr./Amateur riders. Riders may not show more than once in the Over Fences class.

 

*Qualifies for IEHJA & IESS Year End High Point Awards.

 

IEHJA MEDALS

IEHJA Medal Rules: To qualify to participate in the IEHJA Medal Finals riders and trainers must be members of the IEHJA. Riders must accumulate a minimum of 30 points in their respective class. Trainers may not ride in Medal classes. Cross entries are not permitted between the IEHJA Medal and Mini Medal.

IEHJA Flat Medal - Open to all Jr./Amateur riders.
IEHJA Medal - Open to all Jr./Amateur riders who compete over fences 2'6" and higher. Fence height is 2'6".
IEHJA Mini Medal - Open to all Jr./Amateur riders who have not competed over fences higher than 2'3". Fence height is 2'3".
